The Welland-Fosse Benefice: Prayers and Notices.

 Sunday 8th March 2020:  Lent II

Please remember in your prayers those who are sick:  Ray Kilsby, Barry Broughton and Robin Rowland.

Pray too for the departed.

Remember also in your prayers our sheep farmers who continue lambing in challenging weather.

In our wider prayers we remember the Deanery of Greater Northampton and its Rural Dean, Beverley Hollins.

BARROWDEN:

  • Thanks to all who contributed and came to our Lent lunch which made over £370 for Shelter.
  • Saturday 14 March – Children’s Theatre Group in Barrowden Village Hall 2.30pm. An interactive water adventure, target age group 7 years +, £5.00 (under 18s) £8.00 (Adults).  Book with Sara on 01572 747628.
  • 23 April: please contact Carol if you can make a cake for the Open Day at Red Kite House.

 

SOUTH LUFFENHAM:

  • Next Sunday 9.30am Morning Praise.
  • This Friday – 13th March Lent Lunch 12-1.30 in the Village Hall – soup, quiche and baked potatoes!
  • ‘Still Time’ every Monday 5.30-6pm in Church. Why not try joining us during Lent?
  • Mr Keith’ community event in the village hall.  Friday 20th March 7.30pm £11.

Sunday 1st March 2020:  Lent I

The first Lent Blog post – our equivalent of ‘thought for the day’ – is there, to be followed by one a week for the six weeks of Lent. All are written by lay people across the Benefice and linked to the #LiveLent themes.

Please remember in your prayers those who are sick:  Brian, Joe, Pat Simmonds, Ray Kilsby, Honor Harris, Christine Garland, Christine Behets, Robin Rowland and Ann Fowler.

In our wider prayers we continue to remember the Deanery of Towcester and its Rural Dean, Paul McLeod. We pray for holidaymakers, party revellers and our emergency services at this busy time.

Give thanks too for the generosity towards the foodbank in the Benefice.

December 8th: a concert at Duddington Church 3 pm. in aid of Peterborough Downs Syndrome Group, followed my mulled wine etc.

MORCOTT:

The Christmas Star will shine through the chancel window until Epiphany: bring the grandchildren to see it.

Our next services (led by Christopher) are on the Carol Service at 4pm on Sunday 15 Dec, with Refreshments after (a change to normal – no 11am HC that day) and on Christmas Eve 10pm ‘midnight’ Mass with HC.

Exploring Christianity 2019

 

Is there a God?

        Puzzled by Christian belief,

                the problem of Evil?

                        Lost in services?

Then this course could be for you!

The Course gives you the opportunity of exploring the Christian Faith further in a mature setting.  Confirmation may follow but there is no obligation. To cover the basics of Christianity will require 6 sessions. The teaching is conducted in an informal manner with a variety of approaches.

Both juniors (10+) and adults are invited to consider the course in small groups or individually if necessary.

An Open Meeting will be held at The Rectory, Church Lane, Barrowden, LE15 8ED on Monday 9 September at 7.00pm.
