Ride and Stride to support Rutland and Northamptonshire Historic Churches on Saturday 9 September!
The Sheriff’s Chaplain cannot ride with the Sheriff on Bank Holiday Monday so Christopher Armstrong, our Priest-in-Charge, will ride out from The Exeter Arms, Barrowden at 1.00pm on 9 September for a moderate Bike Ride which befits both old and young.
He will aim to cover the 6 churches in the Welland-Fosse Benefice and any more that the posse might feel moved to take in. So why not join this priestly posse? All are welcome! Children should be accompanied by a parent.
If however, your cycling days are over and you would still like to support, then why not sponsor The Sheriff’s Chaplain for a shilling or two? Sign-up forms are to be found at the back of all our churches. Money raised will be split between our Benefice Churches and the Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust.

Fifteen walkers and two dogs took part in the Rogation ramble from Barrowden to Tixover. We were blessed with perfect weather and enjoyed the hospitality that the good folk from Tixover provided after the service. Thank you to all who participated.
This is the fifth Sunday in January, and according to custom there is just one service in our Benefice, which is for everyone.
Please come to Tixover church, for 5pm and a special service to mark the feast of Candlemas. Refreshments after. The church will be lit by dozens and dozens of candles: it is a lovely service in a beautiful setting and all are welcome.
Candlemas is a celebration of the baby Jesus coming to the temple. In recent years the Benefice has met at Tixover to mark this event in the Church calendar. Please join us this year and stay afterwards for some Tixover hospitality.
