An Eastering God: Staying with Christ
Light and darkness are often used as allegories for good and evil or truth and untruth. The Unitive Way (Staying with Christ) corresponds to the sanctuary, where the Eucharist is distributed, the very high point of church life and the communion service. This is the point when we are ‘closest’ to Christ and his light.
The theme of these quotes and thoughts all relate to light and all the images show the strength of light (and so of Christ) apparent in or on the churches of our benefice (except one!). Can you recognise them all?
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:5-7)
