Rutland Ride & Stride – Saturday 14th September

Rutland Ride & Stride

It’s time for the biennial Rutland Historic Church’s Ride & Stride which is taking place on Saturday 14th September – you invited to set off on bicycle, horse or on foot to visit as many of the 64 churches and places of worship in Rutland as you wish, with the aim of raising money to help preserve these beautiful historic buildings.  Half the money raised in Barrowden and Wakerley will be donated to St Peter’s Church and half to the Society.
The Rutland Historic Society’s website www.rutlandrideandstride.org.uk provides full details of the event including sponsor forms and a route planner giving details of distances between churches.  Sponsor forms are also available in the church.
In addition to walkers and cyclists we need volunteers on the 14th September to welcome and register the riders and striders at St Peter’s and all the churches in the Benefice who are taking part. Please contact your Church organiser if you can help on the day with recording or sponsorship.  If you can help Barrowden for an hour or so between 10am and 6pm please contact Janet Verest on 747994 or email jpmverest@btinternet.com.  There are also sponsorship forms for recorders available.
Northamptonshire churches are also participating this year and David Allan for St John’s Wakerley has sponsorship forms available dallan6475@aol.com.
